Monument to Nakanishi Yurin
Nakanishi Yorin was born on April 15, 1834, in Kawada Village, Sumiyoshi, into the family of a doctor. His childhood name was Kiichi, his alias was Yorin, and his name was Hatsuzan.
From 1847 to 1851, he studied under Yamaguchi Genki, a doctor of the Tokushima clan, and then under Mizokami Gensei. In 1855, he took over the family business in Kawada village and died on November 5, 1906, at the age of 72.
Among Yorin's diverse life, the Nakanishi Bunko and the Kanzenkai are noteworthy. The Kanzenkai, in particular, was founded in October 1890 and had more than 1,000 members at the time. At this group, Yorin gave monthly lectures and encouraged the practice of goodness.
This idea of Aririn's, which was devoted to educational activities, has been handed down to the current volunteers of Yamakawa-cho, and is still alive.
Yorin also had a strong will to do what was right and a benevolent heart that allowed him to provide free medical care to the poor. The inscription says that 2,000 people gathered to celebrate his 60th birthday.
The monument to Yoritsugi was built with a natural stone about 1.7 meters high, with the inscription written by Matsushima Kenzo and Ming Migen, and sponsored by Sato Takegoro and Kudo Shimpei, to commemorate his legacy of service to his hometown.
