Tanabo Shrine
To the west of Yamakawa Town, the Kajino of Kotu-Mountain stretches long and close to the Yoshino River. Above the only tunnel on the Tokushima Main Line is Mt. At the top of the mountain is the Tanabo Shrine, dedicated to Ame-no-Hiwashi-no Mikoto, Ame-no-futotama-no-Mikoto, Senzuhime-no-Mikoto, Nagashiraha-no-Mikoto, and Sakuzumi-no-Mikoto.
It takes about an hour to get to the Tanabo Shrine from the start of the ascent at Sadatahikiji. The path is so mountainous that it is impossible to climb without cutting through the grass. In the middle of the mountain, there was a rare pine tree that had both on pine and men pine in it. In the "Shrine Book" of the 3rd year of the Kanpo Era (1743), it is written that Tanabo Shrine was originally called Tanabo Daigongen, but was renamed Tanabo Inbe Shrine and then Tanabo Inbe Shrine. This is because the shrine was related to Inbe Shrine, and in 1741, the name was changed to Tanabo Inbe Shrine, and the shrine was renamed Imaibe Hongu.
In 1741, the shrine was renamed Tanabo Inbe Shrine and named Imbibe Hongu.
In the early days, Kawata, Kawata-yama, and Hai-mura were the area of the shrine, and there were many worshippers, and in the Horeki era (1751-1763), sumo wrestling was started in addition to the purification ritual and Kagura on the annual festival day of September 29.However, nowadays, even on October 23, there are few worshippers.
The shrine is built facing east in a place with a good view, and the whole view of Yamakawa-cho can be seen below. In the distance, the flow of the Yoshino River can be seen like a panorama, from Awa and Maue Counties to the Iwatsu Fuchi and into the sea.
