Inbe Shrine
Identified in the Engishiki jinmyocho (a register of shrines in an ancient book on Japanese customs and laws), as a shrine of the highest rank in the Oe District, enshrining the deity,Ame-no-washi-no-kami. Long venerated by the Imperial court as Inbe jin, it is said that in the Genpei War, Minamoto No Yoshitsune gave a sword as an offering for protection during battle. In 1187, subjects of Awa from Bando, Banzai, Awa, and Miyoshi donated nearly 1,000 hectares of crops to the shrine, and in 1560,the Hosokawa clan of Sanuki Province also donated another 1,000 hectares of crops.
『延喜式』神名帳の「麻植郡」条にある名神大社「忌部神社」に比定される古社で、天日鸞命(天日鷲翔矢命)を主祭神としています。古代より「忌部神」として朝廷からの崇敬が篤く、屋島源平合戦の折、源義経は、戦中安全のために太刀一振りを奉納したと伝われています。文治3年(1187年)には、阿波民部成能が板東·板西·阿波·三好の4か所内に田畑1千町を寄付、永録3年(1560年)には管領細川讃岐守も田畑1千町を当社に寄付しました。
