Iko-ji Temple
The main deity of the temple is Yakushi Nyorai, and the number of parishioners is about 200.
According to an old story, the temple was built to pray for the peace and safety of the residents of the surrounding area after the founding of Mt Kotu. It is said that after the founding of Mt. Kotu, they built four temples to pray for peace and safety in the surrounding areas: Hisamune, Kaize, Oku-noi, and Ohari.
Later, the temple changed its name to Ruri-zan Iko-ji. The former name of the temple, "Daibo," suggests that it was a modest temple.
The temple was destroyed by fire in 1892, and both the temple and its documents were moved to the present location of Hisamune.
The temple grounds are 1.9 acres in size, and the buildings include the main hall, Kannon Hall, and a storehouse, etc. The main hall has been recently repaired, and the ceiling is made of plain zelkova wood.
It is said to be a temple with a long history, but unfortunately there are no ancient documents or writings to support this claim, but the wooden statue of Tsunami Doi, the lord of Inoue Castle, which is enshrined in the temple, may be the only clue to remember the sound.
The temple's storehouse was newly built in 1968, the temple bell was recast in 1975, and the Kannon Hall was reconstructed in 1986.
