Fukusho-ji Temple
The main deities of the temple are Yakushi Nyorai and Shoukanzeon Bodhisattva.
Fukusho-ji Temple, also known as Ekiji-zan Chishakuin Temple, was originally located in Iio Village, Oe-gun County (today's Iio, Kamojima Town), but in 1598, when Iemasa Hachisuka established Ekiji Temple, it was moved to today's Nishi Ichikubo and built.
In 1598, when Hachisuka Iemasa built Ekiji Temple, it was moved to Nishi-ichikubo, where it stands today. Ekiji Temple was a temple that served as an inn for not only monks and pilgrims, but also for ordinary passersby.At the time, bandits and thieves were rampant, causing trouble for travelers, so it is said that the temple was built with safety and convenience in mind.
As such, the temple was of high rank and was a direct descendant of the head temple (a temple attached to or under the head temple), and village officials were not allowed to touch it due to its extraterritoriality.
